Chens Art Gallery is a young established contemporary gallery located in the downtown art and cultural district of Taipei. The gallery was founded in 2017 by Chris Wu and Doris Chen. The founders are both from Asian roots and emigrated to Belgium in the late 80’s. It is in the prominent city of Flanders where the two came in contact with local antique and art dealers, and gradually, collecting became constitutional for Wu and Chen.
Chens Art Taipei opened at 100 Bade Road in Taipei, exhibiting works mainly by abstract expressionists, arte povera and art brut artists, as well Chinese ink and wash artists. Chens Art organizes exhibitions devoted to European and Asian emerging contemporary artists and those who have received international recognition. Alongside with exhibitions of contemporary arts, it is Chens Art mission to present artists who are once mobilized by the avant-garde ideals of abstraction.
In 2019, Wu and Chen officially opened their second gallery in Belgium. They continue to represent emerging and leading Asian artists with a distinct personal approach to their work in the impressive city of arts, Antwerp. Chens Art strives for a well-balanced exposure for its artists through solo exhibitions, selective groups shows, national and international art fairs.
